THE MORRIS FAMILY

Lorrie and Bob knew of each other for years before the moment of destiny. Before Bob left on his mission for the Mormon Church, he trained his future father-in-law to take over the graveyard shift at Crystal specialties Inc. It was his first night home from Bolivia that his best friend Jon Starr introduced him to Lorrie at her home. She broke a two year drought with a peck of a kiss on his right cheek. It was fourteen months later that they were married in the Los Angeles Temple.

Bob began his apprenticeship in the I.B.E.W. just one month before he and Lorrie were married. Keeping their priorities straight they shared 1st anniversary cake with their first child Brian. They purchased their first home in Pomona California in 1980 and filled it by adding Victoria and Russell to the family. It was only two bedrooms so in 1985 they bought the Covina 4 bedroom home. There was now room for Jimbo, Emalie, and Scott. Bob had completed his apprenticeship and was a foreman at his place of employment. Lorrie attended at night and graduated from Mount San Antonio College with an Associate of Arts Degree. Bob remained in school completing over 15 Journey Wireman improvement courses.

Bob and Lorrie were very active in their church and utilized the partnership between the Boy Scouts and the church to teach their sons (and daughters) the skills of becoming contributing adults. Every challenge was met as a family with summer camps combining as family vacations and a family lunch on top of Mt. Whitney.

Never ones to settle for good, the great exodus in 1995 took place. Good-bye to big city life and hello to Ivins, UT. Bob immediately began teaching apprentices at Dixie College, something that he would continue to do for 13 years making a great contribution to the industry in the Southern Utah area. After building their own home with their own hands, they started the largest challenge of their life. Red Mountain Electric was started on January 22nd 1996. It has provided the means for Lorrie and Bob to see all of their sons achieve Eagle Scout, their daughters receive the Young Women’s Recognition Award, three of their sons on missions, their daughter Victoria’s marriage to Hyrum Willard in the St. George Temple, Brian’s marriage to Linsey in the Las Vegas Temple, Emalie’s Cosmetology School, and Scott’s swimming. In their spare time they use up their South West Airline Rapid Reward Tickets to travel. Life is good.
